Weekend Update!

I now have a part-time job working at the YMCA.... it's exciting and nerve racking all at the same time, but so far- with only one day under my belt, I like it!
Christopher got to spend all day in the child development center yesterday while mommy was at work(I get a discount). They said he was a good boy all day... and he even took a nap, which I didn't think he would do for the first day in a strange place, but he did okay! I work in the afternoons, so my mornings will still be free- unless, of course school is delayed, cancelled or not in session!

Roy and I had a fabulous time in Des Moines this weekend.... the show was good (despite) arriving late and missing the first part of it. We went shopping and I found these really cool shoes that help me with walking better (as I have bad knees) - they are called Shape-ups by Sketchers.... just because it feels like I'm walking on soft ground... I put them on and I wasn't limping as much... it's going to take a while to get used to them, but I think once I do- they'll be great for my posture, my weight loss, and my knees!

We had a little bit to much fun test driving a new 2010 Scion XD .... but it is out of our price range now, but we are looking forward to the two years of saving up for this cool vehicle and walking into the dealer with cash-- that's right cash and buying a used Scion XD! We have to pay off our credit cards first (they are evil and taking all our money).... but then starts the savings for a newer vehicle!
My 1998 Toyota Camry isn't pretty anymore, I have a bad habit of hitting things with my car.... posts, other vehicles, dogs (yes, it walked away!), garage (yes, I hit my own garage!).... but the car still works, the only thing that doesn't work is the Air Conditioner, and as far as this winter is going I'm not going to need that anytime soon! My car has a 123,000 miles on it, but I'm going to keep driving it for as long as I possibly can- as Toyota cars are known to sometimes go past 200,000 miles without to many problems!

The Scion XD was a pretty sweet ride, and it's something to look forward to!

Later that same day we waited for a good hour and ten (1hr. 10min.) just to sit at a table at a restaurant called The Flying Mango in Des Moines. The food was so good, southern style cooking in Des Moines, who knew? This restaurant is rated #4 of the top 100 restaurants to eat at in Des Moines, so no wonder there is over an hour wait on weekends! Totally worth going there, if you are ever in the area!
