Dinosaur Party

I had to delay the party for a week, because of Christmas break and before Christmas break I really didn't have time to prepare and get ready, plus I thought I'd be a nice person and not give parents only a few days notice.

The cake. It was supposed to be shaped like a dinosaur, like something you would see on Cake Boss, but someone (she who shall remain nameless) dropped 1/2 a pan of cake batter into the oven as she was putting the cake pan in. What a mess! It took about an hour to clean up, the night before the party. Maybe that'll never happen again!

The boys had a little bit to much fun talking about the dinosaur poop on the cake- 

this was all started by dad. Then the lemonade turned into dinosaur pee. 

You never can get boys off bodily function topic, can you? 

Another game- tie a string to a balloon, and then loop the balloon around one ankle. Now try to pop each other's balloons. It was crazy and the girl of the group even one the first round!

I ordered some dinosaur decals from Oriental Trading Company. 

Dad said to the kids "what? Is there something wrong with my ear?" 

The kids wore Dinosaur Feet, made from foam sheets. Get the template here. 

I also added 'dinosaur toenails'.

First Day of Pre-School

The first day of school was Tuesday, September 4th.

He's going to the local Christian school, a decision that we didn't take lightly. We asked and prayed for God to provide the money for us to enroll him there. We found out there is a state grant that reduced the tuition for us by a huge amount. Something more manageable for us to handle as a family.

The best part about the local program at the Christian school is that for 4 year old students, it's all day, everyday. But he's so ready. Who was up by 6:45am that morning? Who was ready for school by 7:30am? School starts after 8am. This guy. That's who. He was so excited! He told dad "I just can't wait!" Dad asked "For what?" Little man replied "School, of course!"

I have to pack him a lunch everyday, which he ate 2 of the 5 things I sent with him the first day. He ate his mini-Oreos and his snack and cheese crackers. Guess who was hungry after school? He ate his grapes, his fruit roll-up and a piece of candy from the teacher. He ate his macaroni and cheese muffins for dinner- added with ketchup on top, of course!

No, mommy didn't cry. Although I figured out I'm a little lonely and it's a whole lot quieter at home, now that he's in school. The funny part is when he got out of the car at school he started running into the school. He forgot his backpack and his lunch. But we made it, and he had a good first day, despite deciding to rip up his name tag during rest time. He must have taken a nap because he was full of energy when I picked him up. FULL.

Letter E is for Elephant

Our letter of this week is Letter E, and I scoured the internet looking for other great mommy-blogs who have made letter E packs and activities for their kids. I just love 1+1+1=1, don't you?
But I couldn't find what I needed, or it all related to Easter, which is fine, but why do I always have to have my child study these letters when it's nowhere near Easter-time?
So I made my own.

My son has to know how to write the letter 'e' because it's in his name. At the end, and granted he only knows the first 2 letters of his long name (it's 11 letters long), but we are getting there.

Our other object we are studying is 'eggs' for this week. I love the ideas that Mom to 2 Posh Little Divas has over on her blog to do with Easter eggs. Who says I can't pull them out to use them as a learning tool? Great ideas!

We played a game with the letters, matching them and finding the big letter and the small letter. Some of the eggs were the same colors and made it easy, but a few of them were mixed, which made it hard for him to figure out. I also made him find the letters on the ABC Chart. We took turns, but I was still able to help him learn the letters by helping me find mine on the chart. I put the eggs in an empty Tide Pods container and kept it with all of our homeschooling supplies and games. We'll play this game again!
